Top O' the World

Hampton Hills Metropark
Bath Road, Akron

Built by J. Hart (possibly) between 1820 and 1850, the farmhouse in this park is steeped in mystery. Stories of murders linger in the walls, and many people have investigated and vandalized the building. It may look like a simple house on a hill, but strange sightings of a ghostly black figure make this a very likely haunted house.

The most common story is as follows: a man went insane and killed his wife and 2 children at the homestead. Shortly afterward, he hanged himself in the barn.

Unfortunately, the house at this location was torn down by the park service. Only the barn remains.

Photos

orbs

There are a few "orbs" in this digital photo by Michelle Colson, most obviously the bright blue one towards the top and the smaller white orb on the grass. In the background you can see the former farmhouse and the shed beside it. All of the buildings were heavily boarded up due to constant vandalism.
