About the Author...
Ken Summers began reading books on ghosts and hauntings as early as 10 years of age. He researched his first local ghost stories at 13. His first official investigation was conducted alone on October 31, 1995 in Rogue's Hollow. Over the next few years, he traveled to well-known haunted locations around Ohio in an effort to explore the unknown.
While attending Kent State University, he was active in a student group, LGBU-Kent (now known as Pride! Kent), and acted as Vice President in 1998. It was here where he first learned about possible ghosts within the Cuyahoga Valley. He began thorough research and investigations at dozens of locations within the national park and founded his own paranormal group and website, The Moonspenders, in the spring of 1999.
During this period, he worked with several ghost-hunting organizations throughout the region, including M.A.J.D.A., Spiritseekers of Ohio, and Upper Midwest Ghost Society. He appeared with various groups on several local news segments and was featured in Cleveland Scene Magazine in November of 2003.
The Moonspenders quietly disbanded around 2004. Summers proceeded to investigate locations with different individuals and organizations. The Akron Beacon Journal tagged along for an investigation in September of 2005 and wrote a feature article on his work. He has collaborated with dozens of investigators and psychics, including Michelle Colson, Anne Miller, Sherri Brake-Recco, and Laura Lyn.
After living for a brief time in Shreveport, Louisiana, he returned to northeast Ohio to write Haunted Cuyahoga: Spirits of the Valley. It was released with little fanfare in 2006 during a very troubling time in his life. He has conducted lectures on the paranormal and hauntings in the past few years and still works in conjunction with many paranormal investigators. In his spare time, he aids others in independent historical research projects.
Summers is working on a new book pertaining to hauntings of a queer nature. He currently resides in northeast Ohio.
